I'm not normally one to bitch about inappropriateness of content or vulgarity or whatever but this annoyed me. Seriously??

No, if you used a Panther it would be sufficient. So I suggest that you go back and change that.

Yay, much better.
Back to the matter at hand; I found it completely out of place and wildly inappropriate for a site that usually produces relatively SFW material. Relatively in a relative sense, as half of their articles are either racy or extremely vulgar and distasteful. I'm a perfectly rational, immature person. But there is a line between funny and inappropriate and that's probably right at the line.
A graphic of a taxi bouncing up and down would have been much more fitting, not to mention more subtle than the mess that they actually put in that article. If I were their editor, I would have a few things to discuss with whoever is responsible for that.

I too felt that it was too much, especially since the audience could be basically anyone on Kinja who may or may not be expecting such content.
But it's not like I was genuinely surprised to see it, either. Welcome to the kinjaverse, right?

It seemed a bit hypocritical on my part. You change the entire commenting system because of pictures posted in the comments. Yet you post a gif on the FP that is hard core sex with out a bump? A static image of the act could have been enough with the gif after the bump. But that shit was basically porn. For Christ's sake, you can see the actual shaft. I had to click away so damn fast at work when I was just looking for some news. There wasn't a NSFW tag or anything. It's pretty f***ing bad.

I found it funny and think a few too many people are getting butthurt over nothing.
Then again, yesterday on two separate occasions I had two separate busybody coworkers/indirect subordinates tell me to watch my mouth when I said the word shit.
My first reflex was to say "are you fucking kidding me?" but my managerial instincts kicked in and prevented me from doing so.
Why take life so seriously? We're all grownups here. If an animated gif of stick figures having sex offends your delicate sensibilities, well, I don't know what to tell you. It's a big bad world out there.
(I also have my own office where I don't have to constantly worry if something nsfw flashes on my screen momentarily.)

it doesn't offend me, I thought it was funny, right until the person sitting next to me at lunch started freaking out and now thinks I'm so weird car porn perv

You can't please everyone. If that person thinks you're a weird car porn perv, who cares? If it's actually someone whose opinion you value, then I'm sure they'd understand an explanation. Otherwise, they can go on thinking you're a perv.
I know that my general attitude on life and the way I carry myself is so different from those shit-scolders that I'm never going to fully please them. I do my best to work with them and be nice to them, but they're just so opposite from my style that they occasionally don't like stuff I do. And I don't worry about it, because as much as they dislike an occasional thing I do, I find them consistently irritating as well.
